Investing in Places - The Role of Land

This Planning Skills event with the Scottish Land Commission and Architecture and Design Scotland

Vacant and Derelict Land (VDL)

The commission has been closely involved in the work of the VDL Task Force  The Task Force is developing proposals to reduce vacant and derelict land in Scotland  - firstly by developing approaches to bring vacant land back into productive use and secondly by preventing the creation of new areas of vacant and derelict land.

Review of Housing Land Allocation & Placemaking

There is a lot of concern in Scotland that not enough new homes are being built to meet need and demand, and that many people struggle to afford a secure, warm home.  The commission is undertaking a review of how land is allocated for housing development to see if a more public interest led approach could secure better outcomes such as affordable housing, quality places and active travel.

Please see the presentations from the Scottish Land Commission and Architecture and Design Scotland (who will advise of support available on design, placemaking, decarbonisation and re-use of derelict land).
